The Financial Advisory and intermediary Services Act (FAIS Act) came into effect on 30 September 2004. The act requires all financial advisors and intermediaries (Service providers) to meet specific Fit and Proper requirements.

The Regulatory Exams form part of the Fits and Proper requirements and are therefore compulsory for everyone rendering financial services to clients.
